Timeless function.

This gracious kitchen perfectly balances high function and timeless beauty. Open to the home's main floor -- it is expected to work and look good too. The 11-foot center island, capped in Italian Statuary White marble, is stained a coffee color, to resist visible wear-and-tear in this high-traffic zone. Crisp white enameling is reserved primarily for cabinet uppers and other decorative trim. Hand-glazed porcelain tile, wrapping all four walls, is stunning yet practical. Directly off the kitchen is a tailored butler's pantry with butcher block counters, wine fridge, and task-specific storage. Paired with the built-in coffee bar, these two modest, yet high-function spaces, make entertaining easy and elegant.

Modern meadow.

The Modern Meadow was designed for an empty-nester who valued quality over quantity, thus inspiring a small but highly detailed 2,600 sq. ft. jewel-box modern.  The home lives large, however, with its open-plan layout featuring full height windows, highly functional cabinetry, soaring flat roofs, crisp architectural geometry, organic finishes, and the small meadow for which it’s named.

Green dream.

Near-zero energy was requested and achieved by covering south facing rooflines with solar, and using that energy to power geothermal heating and ultra-efficient appliances.  FSC sustainably harvested wood products throughout, and so much more. None of which diminishes the timeless aesthetics.  Awarded:  MN Green Path Platinum Level.  Have your cake and eat it too.

Outdoor finery.

Our clients wanted to make the most of summer. Home and outdoors are seamlessly blended, using Marvin’s 14’ bifold door, paired with a 14’ rollup Phantom Screen. Connecting dinning, screen room and a bluestone patio beyond, with a fountain crafted by local pottery artist Steve Hemmingway.

Thoughtful classic.

"Our home feels so small!" was the refrain we heard. Removing large sections of wall between this 1940's kitchen and the dining room, rear entry, and an unused bedroom beyond, created a sense of openness and space without the need for a costly addition. Highly detailed cabinetry, designed to the square inch, provides for function and storage beyond the original wish list. Fixtures and finishes were selected to meet the clients' clean-lined tastes, while toned to reflect the homes original aesthetics. New, not so new, timeless.
